How to convert 10-bit H.265 videos to H.264 without losing quality

it looks like the Video is encoded in 4000 kbit/s, instead of a Rate Factor (RF). But that isn't the issue here. The issue is: while 264 does support lossless encoding, it not widely compatible! (you ...

Does HDR content have anything to do with codecs?

You can do HDR with almost any modern codec. All it means in practice is that the boundary between the highest and lowest intensities in the image goes beyond what a non-HDR image could portray; if ...

NVENC_HEVC Encoding making my files larger

x265: Is it possible to re-compress HEVC video without quality loss?

In strict mathematical terms, no. In terms of maintaining an acceptable image quality, yes. If you use CRF 18 and a preset like ultrafast now, you should be able to get a smaller acceptable file with ...

Differences of h.264 and h.265?

h.265 is obviously more compressed than h.264 and was built for UHD and 4K. Though 1080 files still look great and are even smaller when encoded with h.265 than h.264. Some computers may have trouble ...

How to encode with x265 cli

Your source is neither YUV nor Y4M, going by the extension (and also the FFmpeg error you received). x265 is referring to a raw uncompressed bitstream by those extensions, not simply the pixel format. ...

NVENC_HEVC Encoding making my files larger

Just to add one specific point. The nVidia HEVC encoder doesn't support B-frames yet. So that crimps any hopes of achieviing the same quality at the same size, even if nvenc was as well-tuned as x265.

H.265 disadvantages with video dimensions not multiple of 8

Personally I always stick to multiple of 8 but here it is: Multiple of 4: In H.265, DCT can be done in 4x4 Transform Units, so it's not a problem for that. It can also use motion vectors for 8x4 or ...

Why both videos are of same file size?

As it seems both videos have a bitrate of 118 (117) megabits per second. This means - regardless off any other parameter - your video will take up 118 mb for each recorded second. But as you already ...

Is smpte170m Color Space Compatible with 10 bit yuv420p10le? Color Space choice(x265)

Is smpte170m space even compatible with 10 bit such as yuv420p10le? There's no incompatibility - H.265 supports BT601-525 / SMPTE170m tagging. It depends on your player if colours are rendered ...

Is 10 frames a second the lowest h.265 can go?

To answer the title question exactly, no, the theoretical floor for H265 framerate is probably less than 1fps. But you don't want to fiddle with framerate anyway. It won't help you produce a quality ...

ffmpeg - why does h265 compression increase the filesize?
