I want to shoot few videos. Next step I will edit them in some video editing software. Maybe OpenShot, Shotcut, Kdenlive, DaVinci Resolve. Maybe any else.

In which codec and file format I should shoot video in camera to avoid problems with editing video in video editing software?

  • @stib Thank you, stib. I have no camera. I want to buy camera. I want to explore cameras features before buying. Friend has Canon EOS 6D Mark II. Video file format: MP4, MOV. Video codec: MPEG-4 AVC, H.264. – Konskoo Jun 8 at 12:54

    Most cameras at that price point shoot h.264 / AVC. To get something that shoots ProRes or a raw format you'd need to look at something like a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. – stib Jun 9 at 1:40
