I have two Canon 60Ds and a ZOOM F8n. I capture interviews with this setup that I later edit in Resolve. I'm trying to automate the capture workflow. I'm looking for a desktop software (preferably in Linux) that can do some or all of the following over USB:
- Start and stop recording on all three devices with one click
- Focus each camera without touching it
- Control other settings, e.g., aperture, exposure, etc.
- Copy files to PC
One direction I can see going in is using something like OBS to capture raw streams from the cameras and the mixer and encode them on the PC. I can do that, but I'd prefer to let the cameras do their own encoding without relying on laptop horsepower.
If it makes any difference, I use Magic Lantern on the cameras.
