2 questions. I need to black out 15 seconds of the video and I think I know how to do it... I generally used that command

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "drawbox=c=black:t=max:enable='between(t,X,Y)'" -c:a copy out.mp4

I hope it will do what I want however the video is over 3 hours long and I only need to black out 15 seconds in the middle of the video. Ffmpeg is copying every single frame by frame. Is there any way to tell it to just "render" the frames which require changes if I'm not changing any codecs etc ? I just don't want to wait hours for the video to modify 15 seconds of it :/. Sounds a bit ridiculous.

Thank you!

  • Trim beginning and end with stream copy being aware of which keyframes you trimed. Encode black section matching parameters and streams of beginning or end segment. Concatenate using concat demuxer again using stream copy mode. – llogan Apr 1 at 17:42
