comment Why do my Objects show up black in Cinema-4D?
If you go to Preferences -> OpenGL -> Show OpenGL Capabilities... you can see if your graphics card meets Cinema4D's OpenGL requirements.

If you click on the object, in the lower right corner basic properties of the cube (like the Name, the Layer, Visible in Editor, etc...) will show up. Can you check if Use Color is set to Off? If it's set to something else it might be the cause of your colour problem.

This normally happens when you have a light in the scene and the light is inside the box such that it can impossibly light the box. But in your screenshot I don't see any lights in your scene, so that's not the case.

From the Apple support page on iBooks Author: "For video, you should use files with an .mp4 file extension." So mpeg2 is not the way to go. Also the quality depends strongly on your source footage. Could you add to your question what sort of footage you're working with (size, format).

comment Capture Date For Video
If you're on a Mac and follow the main page link you will go to the Mac App store where it's not free: itunes.apple.com/app/mediainfo/id510620098. But if you go on the main page to the link below it you will arrive at the free version: mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Mac_OS

If you want to use ffmpeg a bash script would help you a lot to automate the process. Here's an example of a similar bash script using ffmpeg to batch convert video's in iTunes friendly format. If you're a bit code-savvy you could rewrite it to webm, ogg, h264 and flv. Here's a little bit of text on the latter conversion using ffmpeg.

I'm not very familiar with file-corruption, it's just that if no a/v program can open the file at all, in my experience this often was a corrupted file. Don't throw it away yet though, other more experienced members might have a solution.

It seems corrupted. MovieInspector, VLC, MPlayer OSX Extended and FFmpeg can not open this file. The latter program reports moov atom not found.
