Thanks for answering. Fixed it to 422 (doh). You're right about PAR, methinks... I'm avoiding rendering now by converting to 1920x1080 but without using up the whole frame. In Mpeg Streamclip I adjust the X/Y to be .75. Then I crop the thing in FinalCut Pro. I do not render while editing, ever, because then I'd never edit.

Yep, just did some initial tests with velcro: I'm going to need to get my friends who make costumes and stuff like that to help out. I should've paid attention in Arts and Crafts in elementary school!

Thanks for this, great answer and +1. Just FYI if it makes a difference, the initial intention is to create videos of iPad demos and so forth. While it's hardly essential to get the thing on my head, the advantage is that I can vary the subject and not have to think about it. Anyway, the point is that some OIS should be enough, I think, for my use case.

the finger is pretty important for demoing, otherwise I'd use the iPad Simulator, which is beyond perfect (though hard to pinch and zoom)

After lots of testing and fiddling with a T2i, I actually got better results with my Sony DSC-WX5. Batteries are cheap and it does AVCHD, but it just contains less artifacts the the Digital Reflex. Weird. Anyway: youtube.com/watch?v=8bRIa7y4tLM Not 100% pro, of course... anyway, iPad upside down, some ambient light, a nice distance away, and brightness at 50%. It's a 1-minute video only... Still exploring though...

Yeah, the problem is that you lose the finger (um, that doesn't sound right). It's a reasonable suggestion, though, but the units are $200...

Scratch that, just didn't know about all the dials on the camera. Two of them look quite similar :) Thanks for finding the page in the T2i manual!

This is great +1, except that following the manual I cannot get the shutter speed to change. I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow...
