I'm an entrepreneur, music producer, writer and musician and I also do quite a bit of television production as a freelancer.

Oh, and as for the work lights from home depot, they are generally harsh and un-even so I'd consider buying some diffusion gels (actually, wax paper will probably do the trick too) and maybe even some 1/4 or 1/2 CTB gels to correct for daylight depending on the colour temperature of the bulbs. CTO if they are already very white/blueish. Also, have you considered an actual campfire?

You could always buy a "flex-fill" as a reflector. They are getting pretty cheap now and are 10x more portable than a piece of painted plywood. Plus they usually come with white on one side and either reflective silver or reflective gold on the other. The gold side can give some beautiful warmth.

comment Automatically split takes into individual files in Final Cut Pro
There will be no timecode breaks between scenes if you are in rec-run mode (which you should be if you plan to batch capture) thus there will be no splitting. You should use the DV Start/Stop Detect feature in the Mark menu.

Thanks! This does help quite a bit. I actually saw that presentation back in '09 haha it was a good reminder though. Sometimes we get caught up in the technical stuff and we forget that we are telling a story. Also, I believe the X.Y feature does not modify the Gamma Curve. From what I understand, it allows for a larger colour gamut. I guess the real question is whether or not this extra information will carry over to FCP correctly. Cheers
